Love Chem

Validation, and Browser Compatibility

  • Your coding is valid.
  • Your CSS is also valid, although there is one warning in which your color and background color for your hr is the same.
  • Browser Shots tells me that your layout appears correctly/the same in most browsers. :)

Layout and Organization

  • You have a nice simple layout up. It is also very well organized I like how you have an additions and updates section on the bottom, it seems very useful.
  • The colors you have matched together compliment each other and is nice on the eyes, nothing too bright or too loud. And you have picked an easy to read font.
  • I also love how you’ve added an audio component to your blogs! –I have not seen anyone else with this feature :)

Content

  • I enjoyed reading your ‘About Me’ section, and I can tell school is very important to you, especially since you’ve listed your grades! Nice grades by the way ;) I was also on the literary magazine in my H.S.! I have no issues with this section.
  • You have an impressive collection of ‘Writings’, I think this is a very nice section and you’ve done a nice job with it. I also like that you have a little excerpt on what a copyright is, this is a very smart thing to have. I do wonder about the lack of capitalization in your older writings, I am not sure if it was intended to be that way.
  • I love your ‘Visitor’ writings as well. Some are funny, some are helpful, all are enjoyable. Looking under your ‘recommended reads’ though, you do have a lot of novels to list and I found it slightly confusing with your more link in the middle of the page. I did get it but I thought it broke up the page in an awkward way. Just a suggestion but maybe keep seperate pages for ‘novels’ and ‘dramas and plays’.
  • Another thought for your ‘Visitor’ section is to add some interaction. I do not necessarily mean something like contests, but you did say you liked other’s thoughts and perspectives. Your comment sections are good for that to agree or disagree to something you’ve written (your ‘Ask Me’ is also good but I’m thinking of something more specific here) but why not a ‘What Reads Do You Recommend’ section? –or something similar? The lack of this type of interaction is not an issue to me, just an idea of something I thought you might like.
  • Your ‘domain’ section goes into great detail compared to many others I have seen. I like to see that you’ve taken the time to give your site this section. I also like that you’ve listed the WordPress Plugins that you’ve used, this is very resourceful.
  • Your ‘links’ page is straight to the point and also organized nicely.

Overall Thoughts

I found your overall site very well organized with the exception of one or two things I have pointed out as awkward. You are knowledgeable in the art of website making ;) Everything is easy to find, and if it so happens that that is not the case for someone else, you have a very organized site map. Also I love the color scheme (though I may be biased since green and blue are my favorite colors!), but the shades are easy on the eyes and not ‘in your face’. I’m sorry if I’ve been repetitive about your great organization, it is just something I value seeing in a site. You have some really great content that is 100% made by you –very original! I found it enjoyable and valuable –not just ‘fluff’. I’m sorry I didn’t have many other suggestions, or comments, I hope this just assures you that I think that you’ve put a lot of work into your site and it has paid off.

Thank you for the review, Julianne! I frequently ponder how I can get my visitors involved, so perhaps some more blatantly interactive pages might be a start. I kind of thought the page break in the Recommended Reads page was awkward, but I wasn’t quite sure how to handle it. I’ll figure out a way… so that those dramas do not get lost in the shuffle!

I have received a few questions regarding the capitalization (or lack thereof) of my poems, but it is, in fact, intentional most of the time. I became VERY deliberate with the typography, among other things, of my poetry in 2006. Anything peculiar from before then probably is a mistake… Maybe I should note that! :D

Anyway, thank you very much for taking the time to write this up – no need for apologies about the delay!
